It came as no surprise to those who work closely with Natalie Schutz, Director of Nursing at The Crossings in League City, that she was named LeadingAge’s Emerging Leader of 2022. Michael Cummings, Healthcare Administrator of the community shared, “She has a very large following internally that believes in her, trusts her and celebrates her commitment to elder care. She makes life as an Administrator very easy as she is very passionate, loving and accountable for the well being of her team, the families and the residents.” Greg Rossi, Executive Director added, “When Natalie was promoted to be our DON, she brought with her a fresh perspective, a great work ethic and a plan to improve the morale of her team. As Dr. Kevin Leman said in his book, The Way of the Shepherd, Natalie is a good shepherd because she is always taking care of her flock.”
Schutz expressed that she initially felt overwhelmed when she learned she had won the prestigious state-wide award. True to the character Cummings and Rossi describe, she took the opportunity to recognize others, “A leader is only as good as the team that stands with them, and this team makes it easy to lead. I am so honored to have been nominated and then chosen.”
