Assisted Living Need a hand

Houston Has Everything You Need and More

We strive to ensure our independent living residents have all the amenities they need to live in comfort and convenience on our grounds but, sometimes, off-site excursions are necessary to add some variety to their days. Located in the city of Houston, our seniors have more than enough opportunities to keep their calendars full and experience something new whenever they feel adventure call.

Recreation

Houston has all the amenities one would expect from a city of its size. Whatever brand of entertainment our residents are looking for, they're likely to find it here. Those who are space enthusiasts will find an excellent selection of experiences to satisfy their curiosity. The Space Center Houston is the official visitor center of the city's NASA Johnson Space Center. This incredible interactive museum showcases NASA's history through several exhibits and experiences, giving visitors a detailed look at space travel in the United States and what we know about our vast sky. The Holocaust Museum Houston offers a somber look at the historic facts surrounding the Holocaust, including Hitler's rise to power, experiences at the concentration camps, and accounts from victims who survived. The San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site includes a museum dedicated to education on the battle that resulted in Texas' independence from Mexico and a monument to celebrate their victory. These are just three of the most popular museums in the area but there are dozens more that showcase a variety of art styles or historical events.

Shopping and dining are experiences that could take years to experience fully in Houston. Hundreds of restaurants offer cuisines for every palate and there is something to match every budget. Retail enthusiasts can peruse the shops at the River Oaks Shopping Center, Uptown Park, Meyerland Plaza, and so many other malls and shopping complexes. If you can't find what you're looking for in Houston, it doesn't exist. Even sports fans are likely to find an event that meets their energy. With five professional sports teams and frequent world-class sporting events, fans of almost any sport are certain to feel included.

Although Houston is a heavily populated city, it doesn't mean it lacks options for outdoor experiences. The city maintains almost 53,000 acres of parkland with amenities that include tennis courts, fishing spots, boat launches, volleyball courts, nature trails, biking trails, pavilions, playgrounds, and restrooms. Many of these areas are wheelchair accessible. Enjoy the natural beauty of native plants and animals at the Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge or take a four-legged companion to Bay Area Park to enjoy time frolicking with other dogs in the area. Houston's location on the shores of the gulf coast offers ample opportunity to plan a day at the beach or take an excursion out on the warm gulf waters for some deep-sea fishing or to watch the dolphins play.

Climate

Houston temperatures rarely dip below freezing, so snow isn't likely during the winter months. Instead, expect sunny days with a little chill in the air that gradually warm up to mid 90s temperatures in the summer. Its proximity to the gulf ensures plenty of rainfall to keep moisture in the area wetlands and sustain the greenery in all the city parks.

Medical Care

Our assisted living residents have access to skilled nursing and memory support services onsite. For medical needs outside our capabilities, Houston is home to several major medical centers that are equipped to handle any emergency or inpatient treatment.

The Houston Methodist Hospital offers more than 900 beds, a full 24/7 emergency department, and dedicated centers for cancer, orthopedics, neurology, transplants, and more. Residents could alternatively choose care at the St. Joseph Medical Center, also equipped with a full emergency department and specializing in orthopedic and cardiac care. The Ben Taub Hospital is categorized as a level I trauma center and has been recognized for exemplary stroke care services by the DNV Healthcare, Inc., American Heart Association, American Stroke Association, as well as a distinction for heart attack care. There are dozens of other hospitals, clinics, urgent cares, and specialized medical centers in the city that ensure each of our residents has access to advanced medical care at any point.
